The Bachelorette Angie Kent's awkward book signing in Sydney

The Bachelorette EXCLUSIVE: The awkward moment Angie Kent walks into her empty book signing in Sydney… after releasing her debut autobiography

There was initially a disappointing turnout for Angie Kent’s book signing at Dymocks on George Street in Sydney’s CBD on Thursday afternoon.

Despite promoting the appearance on Instagram, where she has 278,000 followers, just ten fans were lined up inside when the Bachelorette arrived at the store.

‘Nobody cheered or anything as she arrived, and Angie just awkwardly walked to the table. There was more staff there than fans at the start,’ an onlooker said.

Lisa Wilkinson’s husband, journalist and author Peter FitzSimons, was finishing his own book signing at Dymocks when Angie arrived for hers.

Angie hovered next to him for several seconds, before she politely sat down in a chair at a small table by the store’s entrance.

Despite her lacklustre entrance, more fans eventually arrived and she ended up signing copies of her book, If You Don’t Laugh You’ll Cry, for approximately an hour.

‘Angie must have met 80 fans in the store as shoppers casually walked to her table and decided to grab a copy of her book,’ the onlooker added.

‘She made time to chat and take selfies with anybody who wanted one.’

If You Don’t Laugh You’ll Cry hit stores last week, with its release coinciding perfectly with The Bachelorette season finale.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia after the signing, Angie said: ‘[The response to the book] has been really good. Everyone has been really supportive!

‘And if they’re not, that’s all good too. You can’t please everyone.’

Angie’s lighthearted memoir deals with her challenges with mental health and body image as well as some of her past relationships.

Time to sign! Despite the disappointing arrival, more fans started flocking to Angie as she met the first few people in the line, with the star signing copies of her book for an hour
