Ryan Reynolds apologizes to the Spice Girls for slamming them in his Netflix movie 6 Underground

Ryan Reynolds proved that, despite his 6 Underground character’s feelings, he is a big fan of the Spice Girls.

In the Netflix movie, his character tears out a car radio to stop it playing the girl group’s Wannabe in the middle of a chase.

When a fan raised the subject on Twitter, Ryan quipped in response: ‘The song was added in post production. I would NEVER interrupt the Spice Girls. Never. Especially during a car chase. That's when I'd need them most. #6Underground.’

The septet are known as ‘Ghosts’ because they feign their deaths in order to become a team of assassins going after various villains abroad.

Wannabe plays during a Florentine car chase involving the squad that happens right near the beginning of the new movie.

Ryan recently told Empire magazine that he was frightened for his life while shooting the hair-raising action scene.

‘There’s a car chase in this movie that’s unlike anything else, a ride round Florence that’s totally wild, speeding in a Day-Glo green Alfa Romeo at 150mph down narrow walkways that should never be used for anything but walking,’ he said.

‘I thought I was gonna die. Weirdly enough, it was Michael Bay’s life that flashed before my eyes. That was strange,’ he quipped.

The movie debuted on Netflix this past Friday and currently holds a 35% rating on the review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes.
